Spain Arrests 3 Iranians Who Spied on Dissidents Through NGO

The Spanish Interior Ministry has reported that Spanish police have arrested three Iranian men on suspicion of spying on Iranian dissidents and defectors on behalf of the Ayatollah regime back in Tehran.

The three Iranians who were arrested had evidently infiltrated a Spanish Non-Governmental Organization set up to assist asylum seekers, enabling them to report to the Iranian regime the identities of Iranians who had fled the Iran for ideological reasons, according to a report cited by the Associated Press.

One of the men arrested is said to be an employee at the Iranian Embassy in Madrid.

The arrests occurred in the northern Spanish city of Torrelavega as well as in Madrid. The report did not specify when the arrests were made.
